Smart Wagon Loading Systems
With the "Smart Wagon Loading System", FAM offers a system for controlling the loading of rail wagons. The system is completely scalable and offers a wide range of functions. They range from level-controlled loading, wagon measuring and number recognition to automatic control of wagon movement by means of a shunting device.
Completely scalable system
A special highlight is a system without intermediate hopper, which is realized by combining fully automatic reclaiming equipment and intelligent material tracking. By combining the separate technologies, the material flow can be controlled in such a way that an intermediate bunker is no longer required.
Key Technologies
Camera-based Wagon Number Recognition
With this system, the unique number of a rail wagon is automatically read in. If the numbers are not legible, a panoramic image of the wagon is taken, and the data record can be corrected manually. Due to the unique wagon identification, each order can be accurately documented.
Fully Automatic Wagon Measurement and Position Determination
During the scan run, a complete train is measured wagon by wagon and the data is transferred to an internal database. The system also determines both the dimensions and the volume of each wagon. In addition, different failures such as open wagon hatches or incompletely emptied wagons can be detected. The determined data serves as the basis for fully automatic loading.
Automatic Control of the Wagon Positioning
The control of the shunting device for wagon positioning is realized with a flexible interface. This technology makes it possible to combine the FAM “Smart Wagon Loading System” with shunting equipment from different suppliers. The system calculates next target position based on the measured values, compares it with the current position and sends corresponding control commands to the shunting device.
Scalable Control Software
The control software is the interface between the operator and the system. The status of the individual components as well as the overall system is displayed in structured overviews.
The software provides tools for job management and control. The design of the displays and overviews is flexible and can be adapted to customer requirements. The software has an internal database as well as report generation functions. The FAM “Smart Wagon Loading System” can be easily integrated into the FAM IoT platform.
Integration of Additional Devices
Depending on the technological requirements, additional devices can be integrated into the system via flexible interfaces. The range extends from frost protection systems and dynamic pressure rollers to belt scales and material sampling.
