BEUMER robotpick: autonomous bulk parcel singulation

BEUMER robotpick is an autonomous robotic picking and singulation system for parcel hubs. It transforms mixed bulk parcel streams into a continuous flow for automated induction and sortation.

BEUMER robotpick identifies, picks and positions individual parcels to create a controlled flow for downstream induction.

With the correct parcel mix and operating conditions, the system can automate 99.9% of the bulk handling process, helping parcel hubs reduce reliance on manual singulation and maintain the supply of parcels to automated sortation.

Adapt the pick to each parcel

BEUMER’s proprietary computer vision system analyses each parcel and identifies a suitable pick point.

The robot adjusts its movement and vacuum gripping strategy according to the parcel’s size and characteristics.

This enables BEUMER robotpick to handle cardboard boxes, polybags, carton bags and letters, while unpicked or dropped parcels are automatically returned to the bulk flow for another attempt.

Mixed parcel streams rarely stay consistent throughout the day. As parcel sizes, packaging types and flow characteristics change, BEUMER robotpick continuously adjusts its picking strategy to maintain a stable supply of singulated parcels for downstream processes.

This helps operators manage changing parcel profiles without relying on fixed picking patterns or manual intervention.

Expand capacity while supporting availability

The modular architecture supports a standard configuration of one to four independently operating robot cells on a single bulk feeding line, with further cells added as requirements grow.

Each cell can process up to 1,600 parcels per hour, depending on parcel mix and operating conditions.

Individual cells can be stopped for servicing or software updates while the remaining cells continue to operate.

Because each robot cell operates independently, operators can add capacity incrementally as parcel volumes increase.

This modular approach simplifies investment planning by allowing automation capacity to be aligned with current demand while retaining the ability to expand in the future.
