Job Description

The Director, Project Execution, Logistics Systems is a strategic leadership role within BEUMER Group North America, responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of large-scale Logistics Systems projects and the overall performance of the Project Management function. This role provides leadership for a portfolio of complex automated material handling, warehouse automation, sortation, parcel, distribution center, and intralogistics projects while driving operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.

The Director will lead a team of Sr. Project Managers, establish best practices for project execution, and serve as a key partner to executive leadership, customers, and global stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery across North America.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership for a portfolio of large, complex Logistics Systems projects, ensuring delivery against safety, quality, schedule, performance, and profitability targets.
  • Establish and drive project management best practices, standards, and governance aligned with BEUMER Group and PMI methodologies.
  • Lead and mentor high-performing team of Sr. Project Managers, fostering leadership growth, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the executive escalation point for critical project risks, commercial issues, and customer concerns, ensuring timely resolution and mitigation.
  • Develop and maintain executive-level customer relationships, ensuring alignment on project objectives, system performance, and long-term partnership success.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Installation, Commissioning, Customer Support, and global Group entities to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Oversee coordination with Global Engineering and supporting Group Companies, ensuring alignment of technical solutions, execution strategy, and project objectives.
  • Drive portfolio-level resource planning, capacity management, and prioritization to optimize project performance and organizational effectiveness.
  • Ensure robust project controls including budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, risk management, change management, and project reporting across the portfolio.
  • Provide leadership and guidance regarding contract administration, commercial strategy, claims management, and negotiation of complex change orders.
  • Support business development activities by contributing project execution expertise during proposal development, solution reviews, risk assessments, and pricing strategies.
  • Monitor project performance trends and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks associated with cost overruns, schedule delays, scope changes, and operational impacts.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement in project delivery methodologies, digital tools, processes, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Partner with Operations and Service teams to support successful project handover and transition into long-term customer support.
  • Develop, mentor, and grow junior team members to strengthen project execution capabilities and support long-term succession planning.
  • Assume increasing responsibility for the financial performance of projects, including full P&L accountability, forecasting, cost control, and margin management as assigned.

Compensation Range:  $185,000.00 - $200,000.00 Annually. 

The posted salary range reflects the compensation the company reasonably expects to offer for this position. Actual compensation will not be less than the posted minimum and will be based on multiple factors.

Qualifications

Requirements / Skills / Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related technical field; PMP certification required.
  • Minimum 12+ years of progressive Project Management experience, including leadership of large-scale ($30M+) complex material handling, automation, distribution center, warehouse, parcel, or logistics systems projects, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects or a project portfolio with accountability for financial performance, customer satisfaction, and operational outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of automated material handling systems, warehouse automation, sortation systems, parcel handling systems, distribution centers, and intralogistics solutions.
  • Proven leadership capability with experience building, mentoring, and managing high-performing project teams.
  • Strong business acumen including project financial management, contract negotiation, commercial risk management, and strategic planning.
  • Experience working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to identify, develop, implement, and support cost-effective project delivery solutions.
  • Process-oriented with the ability to establish and implement project management processes aligned with BEUMER Group and PMI standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including Senior Executive Leadership, Project Teams, Customers, Contractors, and Global Stakeholders.
  • Strong independent decision-making capability with the ability to lead through ambiguity and changing business priorities.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to exceed performance expectations.
  • Ability to travel as required (approximately 35% per year) based on project and business needs.
  • High degree of integrity, professionalism, and accountability; serves as a role model and mentor within the organization.
  • Direct industry experience in material handling, warehouse automation, logistics systems, parcel sortation, fulfillment, distribution, or related intralogistics industries strongly preferred.
  • Experience delivering EPC, Design-Build, or turnkey automation projects preferred.
