Job Description

The Assistant Manager, System Specialist will be a subject matter expert (SME) for the baggage handling system and will support the existing maintenance team with technical knowledge, leadership and oversight, as well as lead preventive checks for system effectiveness and efficiency. Further, serving as a primary Team and Customer contact and leading related technical discussions and workflows.

Responsibilities:

  • Support team leadership on the technical aspects of the systems including communication of the vision and strategy, set forth by business, to team members
  • Develop, inspire and motivate the team, as well as retain accountability for results when delegating
  • Develop and organize technical resources and workflows to ensure plans are fulfilled or exceeded
  • Continuous improvement management of the assigned team and/or scope of work
  • Liaise with remote Hotline for key project support
  • Attend to major stoppages, which require equipment know-how and effectively lead the proper corrective action and related execution
  • Preventive checks, back-up procedures and PLC and server hardware oversight, maintenance and support
  • Supervision and hands on leadership of agreed project and team KPI's as determined by the Company and/or Customer
  • Warranty case oversight and handling
  • Additional responsibilities and core leadership/mentorship initiatives/tasks as required

Qualifications

  • Technical diploma or degree coupled with 3 – 5 years of maintenance experience working on Material Handling Systems (ideally baggage handling systems)
  • Financial/Business acumen coupled with electrical, mechanical, PLC and controls hardware skills
  • MS Office; Word, Outlook, Excel
  • Ability to obtain and maintain airside security access
  • On-call hours as required for operational needs and related system maintenance coupled with the ability for night shift hours, as required
  • Comprehension of values and strong leadership competencies, in addition to strategy insight and team delegation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand and adhere to all health and safety requirements

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced airport environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and variable temperatures
  • Frequent walking, bending, lifting (when needed), and standing throughout large airport facilities

Compensation range: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour

The posted compensation range reflects the compensation the company reasonably expects to offer for this position. Actual compensation will not be less than the posted minimum and will be based on multiple factors.

Work schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
