Job Description

BEUMER Corporation is expanding its value services for our Conveying & Loading Customers in North America by providing for additional capacity for the installation, commissioning, maintenance and support of all the BEUMER conveying systems and equipment in a customer’s facility.  Our main goals and objectives are safety and to maximize uptime at best possible value.

These systems include BEUMER Overland Conveyor Systems, AFR, and traditional Heavy duty Conveying equipment. BEUMER Corporation is looking for an experienced Field Service Technician in order to support these technologies.  

General Responsibility

The Field Service Technician is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong mechanical and electrical expertise, along with experience in heavy conveying systems and maintenance operations. The ideal candidate brings solid technical knowledge, a deep understanding of system technology, and the interpersonal skills needed to communicate effectively and support team success. With the team, you will utilize on site and hands on training and partnering to expand your technical skills as you support critical materials handling systems and their operations. The focus will be on gaining expertise on the latest technology being presently implemented in these facilities.  

Must be able and willing to travel up to 80% of the time.

Primary Responsibilities

The Field Service Technician performs and manages the installation, commissioning, service and support of the critical BEUMER system. Your primary objective is to provide supervision and excellence for the installation and support of these systems.

The Field Service Technician has advanced technical capabilities and experience, can perform and train on all of the duties required for the maintenance, troubleshooting, monitoring and reporting of these systems. The Field Service Technician is responsible for the following:

  • Understanding customer requirements and how they translate into operational and functional requirements of the systems.
  • Access and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical components, including IO cabling and network components.
  • Effective communication with Customers and Internal technical resources to aid resolution
  • Provide accurate and timely written reports of operational and maintenance issues.
  • Interpret data and suggest maintenance schedule/activity adjustments Operate systems and components to demonstrate equipment and to analyze malfunctions
  • Inspects, determine, oversee and perform corrective, emergency and preventative maintenance of the conveying systems and its associated components
  • Analyze and review findings to determine source of problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action as well as coordinate problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs.
  • Interprets maintenance manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics and using standard test instruments and hand tools.
  • Consults with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance.
  • Supervise workers in installation, testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment to obtain optimum operating performance.
  • Prepare detailed Service reports and or as-built documentation for work completed.
  • May be assigned to special projects or required to perform other duties not listed above, which may vary from time to time as determined by management, to meet company needs.

Compensation range: $33.00 - $39.00 hourly

The posted salary range reflects the compensation the company reasonably expects to offer for this position. Actual compensation will not be less than the posted minimum and will be based on multiple factors.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated capability and experience in technical disciplines and maintenance operations.
  • Demonstrated capability and experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of bulk conveying systems and industrial equipment.
  • Demonstrated capability and experience with heavy conveyors, belting and drive systems, Electro-mechanical systems and their maintenance as well as experience in preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to:
    • Work as part of the project team.
    • Use computer-based tools for communication, trouble shooting, and programming.
    • Quickly acquire additional technical skills for new materials handling technologies.
    • Be a mentor and teacher to other Maintenance personnel and operational personnel.
    • Handle multiple tasks and work under pressure, sense of both urgency and thoroughness.
    • Read schematics and diagrams.
  • Strong understanding of industrial power, electrical and control circuits and devices.
  • Strong PC skills (Windows, Word, Excel, remote capabilities).
  • Good time management.
  • Self-motivated, trustworthy, respectful of others.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Professional, positive, and energetic attitude.
  • Demonstrated expertise of bulk conveying experience and CMMS experience a plus.

Education/Training Required

  • Associates or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, technical courses of study or other combinations of experience and training that meet the requirements.
