Role Purpose
We are looking for a hands-on, motivated individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Controls Engineer. This role is focused on programming and supporting the control systems used in our baggage handling equipment. You will work closely with teams across engineering and project management and gain valuable experience in automation and machine control.
Responsibilities
- Understand customer requirements and translate those into programmatic design.
- Design and program machine controls for all types of BEUMER sorters using the BEUMER base machine control code.
- Design and program machine control for all types of BEUMER palletizers and Stretch Hood machines
- Design and program operator panels and HMI systems.
- Prepare and test PLC hardware for projects.
- Understand electrical design drawings and specifications as they relate to machine control programming.
- Work with Electrical Engineering to define I/O network and addressing.
- Work with engineering in selection and test of peripheral equipment.
- Work with the PC software developers.
- Participate in in-house testing at any BEUMER office of the machine control system.
- Prepare as-built documentation for every project.
- Participate in the on-site machine control commissioning.
- Participate in second tier software response line.
- Work with sub-contractors in the controls and electrical area, specifying scope and deliverables and supervising the correct and timely delivery.
- May be assigned to special projects as needed
Compensation range: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 Annually
Requirements/Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, Controls, or Mechanical Engineering (or similar field), or equivalent experience.
- Up to 2 years of experience in a similar role (internships/co-ops welcome).
- Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally for project execution, up to 40%.
Familiarity with:
- Basic control system concepts and automation.
- Programming with Siemens TIA Portal (Allen-Bradley knowledge is a plus).
- Reading electrical schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication.
- Willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
- Able to work in a team and manage time effectively.
- Positive attitude and eagerness to grow in your engineering career.
