aDVANCED MONITORING – EFFICIENT BAGGAGE HANDLING
Advanced monitoring is essentially the ability to create a proactive approach to maintenance and issue resolution by predicting, discovering and resolving issues before they have an impact on operations, rather than wait until they actually occur.
By being proactively alerted when system performance reaches a given limit, threshold or is in a particular state, BHS maintenance staff will be able to take immediate action to prevent the issue from impacting performance.
A rule configurator is built into the monitoring system to help set up advanced monitoring. This will set off proactive alerts on a number of issues that otherwise could lead to bags having to be handled manually or to reduced system performance. An example of rules often used could be:
- Baggage in totes still in early bag storage with less than X minutes to the estimated time of departure
- Reject rate on HBS comes above a certain threshold
- Read rate on ATR falls below a certain threshold
- Number of empty totes available in empty tote storage below or above a certain threshold
