用于露天堆场时，门式刮板取料机通常配有一个或两个平行布置的主臂。 主臂在高位时伸展到门架轮廓外。
部署在料仓内时，门式刮板取料机配有主臂和辅助臂。
在这种结构中，悬臂在任何位置都不会超出门架轮廓外，因此，料仓的横截面需要尽可能地配合刮板取料机的门架轮廓。
辅助臂的任务是将物料送到主臂上，这样就可以连续地对整个料堆的横截面进行取料，确保纵向取料过程中均匀的物料流。
