端面取料主要采用桥式取料机，取料部件为刮板链或斗轮。
支撑结构由桥式主架构成，刮板链或斗轮安装在桥式主架下方。
耙式小车带有耙臂，安装在桥架的一侧或两侧， 形状与料堆的横截面相适应。
在取料部件上游的料耙来回移动，松动料堆。松动的物料在重力的作用下，落到料堆底部，在这里取料，传送到带式输送机上进行下一步输送。这种技术产生的物料流非常均匀，而且高度均化。
