履带式回转刮板取料机非常适合于料堆底部较宽的矩形堆场（如化肥堆场），通过来回摆动取料臂在堆料端面取料，通过转运槽将物料输送到可回转的装料臂上，随后将物料输送到廊式输送机上。之所以选择履带式移动机构而不是轨道式移动装置，是因为履带式移动机构对仓库地面的负荷较小。
