The BEUMER stretch hood® A pulls a single layer of high-flexibility film down over the load instead. The film contracts vertically and horizontally at once, so the pallet is held from above rather than compressed from the sides.

why loads fail and what a stretch hood changes

Containment is a trade-off for most plants. The lighter your product and the larger your case, the more force it takes to stop the pallet moving – and the less force the cases can take. Squeeze hard enough to hold the load and the corners deform. Ease off and the load walks.

The BEUMER stretch hood® A works on two axes instead of one. A single film layer comes down over the load and contracts vertically and horizontally at the same time, holding the pallet from above and around. The load is stabilized, not compressed. Mixed product sizes on the same pallet are fine, because the film accommodates the profile rather than fighting it.

Everything downstream benefits from that: fewer re-worked pallets, fewer rejections on arrival, and a load that presents well enough to go straight to the floor.

Pallet and package recognition is automatic, so a change of load format doesn’t need an operator to set the machine up. Film length is calculated per pallet. Operation is through a touch panel with explanatory video built in for the technical functions, which shortens the training curve for a new operator.

Throughput runs up to 120 pallets per hour, across package sizes from 500 x 500 mm to 1,400 x 1,220 mm. Behind it is a worldwide regional service network, so support isn’t a shipping question.
