Job Description
General Responsibility
Are you a seasoned engineering professional with a passion for automation and innovation? As a Senior Controls Engineer at BEUMER Group, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced control systems for high-speed sortation and conveyors-based material handling solutions. This strategic and hands-on role requires deep technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a collaborative mindset to drive excellence in fulfilment automation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and programming of machine controls for BEUMER high-speed sortation systems.
- Architect scalable and modular PLC and HMI solutions tailored to customer specifications.
- Oversee hardware selection, I/O mapping, and control logic development across multiple platforms.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, and software engineering teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership throughout project lifecycles.
- Conduct system emulation and validation testing to ensure performance and reliability.
- Manage on-site commissioning and troubleshoot complex system behaviors.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, standards, and training materials.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to R&D efforts.
- Interface directly with clients to ensure technical alignment and project success.
Compensation Range: 130,000-150,000 Annually
The posted salary range reflects the compensation the company reasonably expects to offer for this position. Actual compensation will not be less than the posted minimum and will be based on multiple factors.
Qualifications
Requirements/Skills and Abilities:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in controls engineering, preferably in the material handling or automation industry.
- Proven track record of leading complex automation projects from concept to commissioning.
Technical Expertise:
- Advanced proficiency in programming Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs.
- Expertise in SCADA systems, especially Ignition platform development and integration.
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols and industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, ProfiNet etc.)
- Experience with safety systems, motion control, and robotic integration is a plus.
- Skilled in using engineering tools for simulation, diagnostics, and project management.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and mentor team members.
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally up to 30% for project execution.
