Job Description

General Responsibility

The Project Mechanical Engineer is a hands-on individual who will prepare specifications, 3D models and drawings for the design, manufacturing, and installation of material handling equipment used in airport baggage handling systems. This position requires good technical, organizational and communication. An ideal candidate will have previous education in mechanical designs broadened by experience in the material handling industry. The Engineer will work closely with other Mechanical Engineers, Sales, Project Management, and Procurement. This position will report to the BEUMER Group Office in Greenwood Village, CO. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide drafting and design expertise to assist Engineers of the Mechanical Engineering department for the creation of 3D models and production equipment.
  • Assist Sales in the creation of equipment proposals by providing engineering and design expertise.
  • Evaluate manufacturing feasibility, estimate cost requirements of a variety of material handling systems.
  • Design systems layout and specific components on 2D and 3D CAD equipment and software Our products could include steel structures, sheet metal parts, mechanisms and other BEUMER products. Optimize for cost, functionality and manufacturability.
  • Perform data entry functions to fully document engineering designs in the corporate database.
  • Support existing Engineering processes and assist in the development of new processes.
  • Prepare specifications for equipment purchase. Work with procurement to release equipment for quotation and procurement.
  • Prepare written specifications for training and operation.
  • Work with senior engineers to insure designs are prepared for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Attend conference calls and on-site meetings with clients as directed by Manager.

Working hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm.  

Compensation Range:  $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 Annually. 
The posted salary range reflects the compensation the company reasonably expects to offer for this position. Actual compensation will not be less than the posted minimum and will be based on multiple factors.
 

Qualifications

Requirements/Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing and project engineering environments.
  • Preferred experience in the design of automated machinery and material handling capital equipment
  • Broad technical background across machine technologies, including controls and electrical systems (preferred)
  • Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD; experience with Revit is a plus.
  • Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to create clear and concise documentation.
  • Skilled in analyzing and designing basic mechanical components and systems.
  • Ability to specify mechanical components and materials accurately.
  • Solid understanding of drafting standards, dimensioning, tolerancing, and common manufacturing processes.
  • Experience within Material Handling Industry preferred. 
  • Strong time management skills, attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional, positive, and energetic attitude.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites up to 20% of the time.
