Job Description
The Commissioning Engineer III plays a critical role in bridging software and automation development and operational deployment. This position ensures that software and automation systems are correctly implemented, validated, and optimized within production environments. Responsibilities include analyzing requirements, leading the planning and execution of commissioning activities, configuring system environments, validating performance and reliability, and collaborating across teams to ensure seamless integration within the Airport Division. The role requires strong technical expertise, independent decision-making, and the ability to guide commissioning efforts across complex automation systems and multidisciplinary teams. This position will report to the BEUMER Group Office in Greenwood Village, CO.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Analysis: Analyze, review, and assess system requirements, features, and acceptance criteria to ensure readiness for commissioning and operational deployment. Provide technical insight and guidance to ensure requirements are aligned with operational capabilities and commissioning objectives.
- Commissioning Planning: Lead and contribute to commissioning plans, defining commissioning goals, timelines, and dependencies in alignment with project milestones. Provide technical leadership during commissioning preparation and coordinate activities across engineering, software, and operations teams.
- System Environment Setup: Configure and verify through testing IT System and PLC environments, including hardware, software, and network components, in collaboration with IT and engineering teams, ensuring systems are optimized for commissioning and operational readiness.
- Procedure Development: Develop, refine, and implement commissioning procedures and validation steps, ensuring traceability to functional and operational goals and alignment with engineering and quality standards.
- Data Management: Prepare and manage configuration data, operational parameters, and input datasets required for commissioning and system validation, ensuring accuracy and consistency across environments.
- Commissioning Execution: Create detailed commissioning schedules, lead and execute commissioning activities, evaluate system behavior, and document deviations or issues encountered for both software and automation. Provide technical troubleshooting and resolution for complex commissioning challenges.
- Review and Collaboration: Review commissioning procedures and outcomes with software developers, automation engineers, and project stakeholders to ensure alignment, quality, and operational readiness. Act as a key technical point of contact during commissioning phases.
- Lifecycle Participation: Actively participate in the full software & automation lifecycle, from development and integration to commissioning and handover to operations, ensuring smooth transition from engineering to operational deployment.
- Quality Contribution: Support quality improvement initiatives by identifying commissioning-related issues and contributing to corrective and preventive actions while helping to establish best practices and lessons learned across projects.
- Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: Provide guidance and technical mentorship to junior engineers and team members, supporting skill development and promoting consistent commissioning practices across the team.
- Continuous Learning: Stay current with technological advancements, industry standards, and best practices in software commissioning and automation, and contribute to the continuous improvement of commissioning methodologies within the organization.
Compensation range: $128,000.00 - $138,000.00 Annually
The posted salary range reflects the compensation the company reasonably expects to offer for this position. Actual compensation will not be less than the posted minimum and will be based on multiple factors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in automation engineering, system commissioning, or related roles, with demonstrated experience supporting complex automation systems and large-scale projects.
- Demonstrated experience leading commissioning activities, coordinating with cross-functional engineering teams, and supporting system deployment in operational environments.
- Prior experience in team leadership, technical mentorship, or project coordination is an advantage.
- Experience working within cross-cultural or international teams is preferred.
- Certifications (Preferred): Siemens TIA Portal PLC programming and development.
- Certifications in IT Engineering or related technical disciplines are a plus.
- Valid Driver's License (Must be able to meet insurance underwriting requirements)
- The ability to obtain the required airside security badge issued by the Airport and/or the TSA.
- Ability to travel between 50-75% based on business needs.
