Job Description

The Technical Service Specialist is a hands-on, customer-facing role responsible for technical support, service coordination, and post-installation assistance across North America. The ideal candidate has experience with electro-mechanical systems, PLC and control systems, and thrives in heavy industrial environments such as mineral processing and mining equipment. You will ensure system reliability, support both legacy and new installations, and help maintain high customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the frontline contact for technical service requests, maintenance needs, and troubleshooting support to customers.
  • Provide responsive support via phone, email, and on-site visits, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Provide customer service solutions by realizing the issues a customer is facing and collectively finding solutions within the customer support team.
  • Coordinate spare part orders within the organization, selection of parts, ordering parts, logistic planning of orders.
  • Coordinate with technical teams and hotline groups to ensure consistency and global alignment on service standards and escalations.
  • Utilize ServiceNow and internal tools to track, manage, and resolve customer service issues.
  • Deliver clear, courteous, and solution-oriented communication throughout the support process.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to mechanical and components systems, while supporting  PLC communications, control systems.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control documentation to support accurate issue resolution.
  • Support warranty claims and provide technical documentation for service cases.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and proposes corrective actions, working closely with engineering and product teams.
  • Plan and coordinate on-site service visits, preventive maintenance, and emergency support.
  • Support Hotline Engineers and Field Technicians on system upgrades, change orders, and troubleshooting processes.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (Engineering, Project Management, Customer Support) to drive continuous improvement in delivery service.
  • Assist in developing service strategies, training standards, and documentation relevant to the mining and minerals segment.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key customers and technical teams.
  • Support spare parts identification and potential after-sales business (e.g., change orders, upgrades).

Qualifications

Skills and Abilities:

  • 5+ years of field service or technical support experience, preferably within the mining, minerals, or heavy industrial equipment sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Exceptional communication, coordination, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, primarily within North America; occasional international travel may be required.
  • Familiarity with service management systems.
  • Prior experience coordinating or managing customer-facing technical service teams is a strong plus.
  • Technical diploma, associate degree, or equivalent experience in engineering, electrical, or industrial systems.
  • Previous work with mining equipment, mineral processing systems, or bulk material handling machinery.
  • Knowledge of safety standards in industrial environments.
  • Experience working with European-based support teams and multi-national customers.
