Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems and material handling equipment for industrial projects. This is a hands-on role that will work closely with cross-functional teams including Sales, Project Management, and Procurement. The Mechanical Engineer will participate in the full project lifecycle—from conceptual design to manufacturing, installation, and commissioning—while also supporting technical documentation, vendor interactions, and client meetings.
 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Support project teams by organizing and managing tasks throughout all project phases.
  • Assist in the design and layout of mechanical systems, including steel structures, sheet metal parts, and custom equipment using AutoCAD and 3D modeling tools (AutoDesk/Inventor preferred).
  • Prepare mechanical equipment datasheets, equipment lists, and technical specifications.
  • Evaluate manufacturing feasibility and cost requirements of mechanical systems.
  • Assist with technical requisitions, vendor quotations, and technical bid evaluations.
  • Review and check vendor drawings and project documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide fabrication and technical support to vendors and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Prepare engineering work packages and training/operational documentation.
  • Attend internal and client-facing meetings, both virtual and on-site, as required.
  • Support the enhancement of engineering processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform shop and site visits to ensure compliance with the project specifications, engineering documents and Beumer’s performance and quality expectations.
  • Other duties assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

Requirements / Skills / Abilities: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in mechanical or project engineering, preferably in material handling.
  • APEGA P.Eng. designation. Other Canadian or USA Professional Engineering designations would be an asset.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, AutoDesk, Inventor preferred).
  • Solid understanding of mechanical design, dimensioning, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Ability to specify mechanical components and systems.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional, proactive, and team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Prior experience in industrial or manufacturing environments in Canada or the U.S. is preferred.
