Job Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer plays a pivotal role in the execution of projects within the company. The primary purpose of this role is to participate in the efficient planning, coordination, and execution of project tasks, ensuring adherence to design rules, quality standards, and timelines. Success in this position is marked by meticulous project documentation, effective collaboration with stakeholders, proactive problem-solving, and timely delivery of project milestones. This position is integral to the organization's overall project management framework, contributing to the successful completion of projects and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, and coordination activities.
  • Participate in scope clarification, ensuring a clear understanding of project requirements.

System Design and Documentation:

  • Create detailed design of the system layout in compliance with design rules and the machinery  directive.
  • Generate installation binder and layouts for Customer Documentation.
  • Generate Bill of Materials (BOM) for mechanical supplies.

Subsystem Integration and Technical Review:

  • Check interfaces between subsystems, such as induction units, scanners, chutes, conveyors, and fire doors.
  • Integrate third-party subsystems into X‐refs, ensuring compatibility and functionality.
  • Perform clash detection in a 3D environment to identify and resolve conflicts within the sub-project scope.
  • Provide on-site installation support in alignment with agreed scope split, resolving technical issues as they arise.

Submittal and Data Management:

  • Participate in the submittal process, creating layouts and drawing lists for review and approval.
  • Maintain project data to ensure accurate and up-to-date project documentation.

Project Meetings and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Actively participate in project meetings, contributing insights and flagging any risks or opportunities.
  • Proactively search for information from project stakeholders to ensure progress.

Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing:

  • Facilitate two-way feedback within the project team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
  • Share experience proactively with the team and guide the project around any design pitfalls.
  • Take ownership of own tasks and deadlines

Compensation Range: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 Annually 

Qualifications

  • Technical Designer / Machine technician or relevant education and experience
  • Professional experience in a similar role within the mechanical engineering is advantageous.
  • International experience or exposure to cross-cultural working environments is advantageous.

Functional skills:

  • IT skills with CAD Tools.
  • Knowledge of the design rules in your division and the BEUMER COC product portfolio.
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles and design rules.
  • Good project coordination skills, including planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook
  • Able to plan and establish individual structure for design work on projects.
  • Able to handle project design work on projects according to the BEUMER Group Stage-Gate® Model.

  Soft skills:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proactive problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to navigate changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
