Job Description

Are you a hands-on electrical professional with a passion for automation and system reliability? BEUMER Group Australia is seeking a dedicated Service Technician - Electrical to support the operation and maintenance of our baggage handling and logistic systems. This role is essential to ensuring system uptime, safety, and performance across a dynamic airport environment. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity with a guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Service Technician – Electrical, you will play a critical role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of our automated baggage handling and logistics systems. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing general maintenance on equipment such as conveyors, ploughs, carousels, Crisbags, Crisstores, LLC, and HLC systems.
  • Assisting in testing and repairing electrical systems for baggage handling and logistics automation.
  • Monitoring control room systems including alarms, sensors, and real-time data feeds.
  • Responding to system alerts and coordinating with maintenance teams for resolution.
  • Participating in commissioning and testing of automation systems.
  • Maintaining logs of system performance, incidents, and interventions.
  • Collaborating with senior engineers on blueprints and system documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Supporting PLC programming and troubleshooting under supervision.

Success in this role means delivering high-quality installations, ensuring system reliability, resolving faults efficiently, and working collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a technically capable and proactive individual who thrives in fast-paced operational environments and brings the following criteria:

Qualifications

  • Certificate in Electrical Engineering and Technology (Level 4) or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of experience in electrical engineering or control room operations.
  • Internship or project experience in automation or airport systems is highly regarded.
  • 3 years of relevant on-the-job experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
  • Actively working towards or holding a full or limited EWRB licence.

Skills & Competencies

  • PLC programming (Siemens TIA, STL/SCL) 
  • Electrical circuit design and fault diagnosis 
  • Basic SCADA/HMI system exposure
  • Technical documentation and reporting
  • AutoCAD/EPLAN
  • Strong communication and coordination with technical and operational teams
  • Problem-solving and adaptability in shift-based operations
  • Initiative and stress management during peak operations
  • Learning agility and commitment to safety
  • Problem-solving and root cause analysis
